Spent my first 10 years, starting around 1988, of my career in Land Surveying. from a rear chainman up to Party Chief in 3 years. most of the experience gain was measuring of large land tracts size and proportionment of sections, townships and ranges through the state of Alabama. property subdividing building and submitting such plats for approval through local principalities or planning boards and or County Engineers.After quite a while I started my own Survey Company having my parcially retired Dad as my PLS- with several home builders, banks, mortgage lenders and construction companies then work took off. This started out well but then changed to mainly working on construction companies projects doing civil construction layout, Base control and Benchmarks and as builts of same. During the heights of the construction boom in our area we took financial hits from 9/11, then housing market crash and finally the BP Oil spill, we eventually had to close shop and I took an offer to do Industrial Metrology and precision measuring. flying all over the States getting industrial equipment and mechanics back in alignment for optimal use. working with plant managers conveying data and nominal spreadsheets to fix and repair equipment.After the crude oil market fell out I then switched gears and found Construction Survey was needed and Field Engineering of large Heavy projects, which is where I am today. plugging through projects one at a time from high rise condominiums, Waste Water Treatment plants, Industrial plants, to Roadway Projects, Super Duty Bridges.Improvise, Adapt and Overcome....or perish!One thing life has shown me is to always be a student and never stop learning.
