Served as the Airfield Team Manager for a 2-291 Aviation Regiment, a 74-person Multi-Functional Training Battalion. I lead and managed a team of 5 Soldiers responsible for the maintenance and day to day operations of two Army Auxiliary Airstrips, capable of servicing 91 and 36 aircraft respectively, as well as an aviation rapid-refuel point and an equipment storage site.Manage and prioritize tasks for assigned air traffic controllers, engineers, petroleum specialists, as well as coordinated with civilian aviation maintenance technicians. Work cross functionally with Battalion personnel, IT, and supply divisions to ensure all mission requirements and taskings are accomplished ahead of deadlines.Assisted Battalion Signal Officer in completing missions including, but not limited to, the creation of over a dozen Secret-level computer accounts for key personnel and accountability of $800,000 worth of radio and computer equipment. On call, I served as Battalion project officer for miscellaneous unit projects, including gaining official recognition of two memorial sites for fallen Soldiers.

Served as Company Commander of a Headquarters Company in an Attack Aviation Battalion. I was responsible for the health, welfare, training, and professional development of 87 Soldiers holding 22 different mission occupation specialties (MOS) and belonging to 8 separate sections/departments. Held responsible for the combat readiness of the unit and accountability of over $8.5 million in equipment. Enforced Army regulations and standards and developed policies to ensure all personnel met required medical and professional training objectives.Designed and resourced the creation of multiple variations of a multi-functional Battalion Command Post, allowing the unit to conduct real-time battle tracking, communications, and operational briefings in austere training environments. Served as subject matter expert on capabilities and limitations of all assigned personnel and equipment. Offered alternative courses of action to superiors to complete assigned missions.Regularly performed multiple personnel actions, including but not limited to, writing and submitting awards for personnel displaying personal excellence, punishing deserving personnel under the Uniform Code of Military Justice, and separating/firing Soldiers who failed to meet standards. Regularly counseled Soldiers about professional performance, personal issues, and offered advice and mentoring to all personnel. Daily duties include prioritizing all assigned tasks and missions, making command decisions about a wide variety of topics, conducting regular briefings to the Battalion Commander about unit status, receiving daily updates from each department and offering solutions and advice, dispatching tasks to appropriate personnel, managing and accounting for property spread across a disparate footprint. Additional duties include providing professional guidance and mentoring based off of personal knowledge and experience on a wide variety of topics.

Served as an Assistant Operations Officer in the Operations (S3) office of a 3500 person Combat Aviation Brigade. I was responsible for planning, resourcing, and executing multiple Brigade-level training events in support of ground Brigades and upper-echelon Army units (Division-level through Forces Command-level). I was the lead planner for sending a 450-man aviation Task Force across the country to Ft. Irwin, CA in support of a National Training Center exercise. I served as the lead planner and point of contact for the bi-annual Aviation Resource Management Survey, a massive "Big Army" inspection that evaluates a unit's resource efficiency and determines the combat readiness and deployability of Army Aviation units.Daily duties included creating operations orders tasking subordinate units with missions to accomplish, reserving land and training resources in support of various exercises, conducting briefings and status update reviews, compiling and briefing after action reviews at the conclusion of exercises. Additional duties included creating and resourcing multiple different training scenarios for subordinate units to execute, and serving as an observer and coach to assist units in improving during training exercises.

Served as the Brigade Aviation Officer for an Infantry Brigade Combat Team. I was responsible for planning and integrating fixed wing, rotary wing, and unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) into all Brigade operations. I led a team of five personnel, responsible for their training, health, welfare, and safety. Additionally I coordinated the de-confliction of airspace to facilitate the efficient employment of manned and unmanned aircraft in the air alongside direct fire and artillery fire. Responsible for processing and reviewing all air mission requests from subordinate units, prioritizing and assigning available aviation assets against various missions. Conducted numerous Air-Ground Integration training classes to teach and inform Soldiers of the capabilities and limitations of Army Aviation. Deployed to Afghanistan for 9 months in support of Operation Enduring Freedom where my daily duties included creating mission packets to include task and purpose for attack aviation assets, processing heavy lift and sling-load aerial mission requests, and processing passenger and light cargo movement requests. I created daily VIP transport mission plans, factoring in multiple mission legs. I conducting daily briefings and presentations to the Brigade staff to ensure open flow of information regarding available aviation assets and templated missions for the day. Responsible for ensuring continuous tracking of all in-progress missions and coordinating rapid aerial support for any emergency situation. Coordinated assets to provide aerial movement for contractors, civilians, and Special Operations Soldiers alike.

Served as Attack Aviation Platoon Leader, responsible for the combat readiness, professional development, training, morale, welfare, discipline, and safety of 11 personnel: five junior enlisted Soldiers, two Non-Commissioned Officers, and four Warrant Officers. Responsible for the combat readiness and accountability of over $77 million worth of equipment, including three AH-64D Apache helicopters. I established and maintained standards within the Platoon and was responsible for leading by example in training, maintenance operations, leader development, and tactical proficiency. Additionally I coordinated with higher-level maintenance units to ensure outsourced work orders were accomplished to standard, planned, resourced, and executed both platoon and company-level training operations. Performed monthly and quarterly counseling for subordinates in order to assist and ensure progress in their personal development. Assisted the Company Commander in ensuring all taskings and missions from Battalion were completed to standard on/before the due date.Standard daily duties included maintaining accountability of all assigned personnel at all times, ensuring all personnel were in compliance with all required medical appointments, tracking and communicating the maintenance status of all six aircraft in the company, as well as creating and maintaining the complex weekly flight schedule. Responsible for coordinating and communicating any flight schedule changes to all involved parties across 3 different companies.

Served as Platoon Leader of 35 Aviation Maintenance Personnel, 22 Active Duty maintainers and 13 mobilized US Army Reservists. Responsible for manning and training two duty shifts performing scheduled and unscheduled maintenance on seven AH-64D attack helicopters, five UH-60L utility helicopters, three HH-60L MEDEVAC helicopters, and nine CH-47D heavy lift helicopters. Managed Aviation Task Force aircraft maintenance while deployed to the high operational tempo in Afghanistan in support of Operation Enduring Freedom. While assigned to this position the Battalion did not have to cancel any missions duty to aircraft maintenance issues despite executing an average of 10 daily missions consisting of no less than two aircraft each.

Completed required military training courses including Basic Officer Leader Course Level 2 (BOLC 2), was responsible for managing 31 peers, planning, resourcing, and executing small unit military operations. Completed BOLC 2 in May 2009, moved to Fort Rucker, ALServed as Officer in Training at Fort Rucker, AL. Successfully completed all requirements for Junior Officer Personal Development, Initial Entry Rotary Wing training, Flight School XXI training, and Basic Officer Leader Course Level 3 (BOLC 3). Completed learning of basic knowledge in combined arms doctrine and military law. Trained in safe operation of the Bell 206, OH-58A/C, and AH-64D helicopters. Demonstrated competency in flight fundamentals, aviation physiology, aviation logistics, communication procedures, basic aviation tasks, and basic understanding of aviation tactics, techniques, and procedures. Completed Aviation Over-Water Survival Training and high-risk Survival training. Promoted to First Lieutenant February 2010. Graduated in May 2011 for follow-on assignment.

Assigned as long-term Human Resources Manager and ROTC recruiter immediately following commission into the US Army, while awaiting follow-on schools. Responsible for maintaining Cadet records and keeping scholarship information up to date. Responsible for tracking all unit assignments and taskings, ensuring deadlines were met. Acted as personal assistant to the Battalion commander and unit Recruiting Officer, planning and executing ROTC Cadet recruitment events. Assisted in planning, resourcing, and executing weekly college training labs for approximately 80 Cadets. Mentored and evaluated senior Cadets. Managed Battalion Morale,Welfare, and Recreation (MWR) funds, ensuring all spending adhered to Army regulations. Ceased serving in this position April 2009 to attend professional military education courses.
