In this role I ran all software development activities for NHL.com and all of our related products. Major focus was around social media and community building. Some of the key projects we released while I was at the NHL include: GameCenter Live – Designed and rolled out our latest version of the NHL’s flagship online streaming game product focusing on increased video playback and better DVR controls. 30 Club Websites – Lead the NHL team to roll out new websites for all 30 teams within the NHL. This included built in CMS functionality, new designs, and customizable modules for each team. Facebook Integration – Lead our implementation of Facebook’s Connect and Social Plugins. The NHL was one of their key partners that had pre-beta access to roll out this functionality at Facebook‘s 2010 f8 conference. This increased our Fan count from 280K to 450K in 2 weeks. NHL Fans – Took over an at risk project to create a unified league wide message board and social media platform. Have been able to steadily grow the user bases of these communities. NHL Video Center – Rolled out a new video player which greatly increased ad revenue and video starts. We also included new social media share tools which greatly increased our video shares. Within 2 weeks of execution 5 videos were on the top 10 of all video starts in NHL history. SEO – Implemented SEO best practices which drove our search visits up 48% YOY and made our teams, players, and tentpole events 1st or 2nd in Google searches around these terms. -
