I’ve always enjoyed “helping” people and can’t imagine earning a living any other way. Whether I served as waitstaff, an Army medic, a medical technologist, a federal law enforcement officer, an Air Force Wing Command Advisor, or an advocate for the families of our nation’s Fallen military members, I always strived to do all I could to ensure those I served had the most positive experience possible. Although I hated to leave my position working with Gold Star families, my husband & I (both recently retired from the military) welcomed the opportunity to leave the long cold winters of Vermont for the endless sunshine of Tucson when his military contracting company offered him a position here.Shortly after our arrival, I realized that my love for HGTV, my desire to help others, & my need for new challenges were not incompatible- that real estate agents are more than just salesmen. The same work ethic and practices that helped me to be a trusted advisor and advocate for military members and their families are the same needed in a real estate agent- integrity, the desire and ability to listen to the client and understand his or her needs, and working together with my client to determine & coordinate the best action plan for fulfilling those needs.Recently I discovered a program called Homes for Heroes. It rewards our everyday community heroes like firefighters, policemen, military, healthcare workers, & teachers by rebating 25% of the affiliated agents' commissions, along with other related discounts & rebates. It's an awesome feeling to help, even in a small way, to make these community heroes lives just a little easier. I personally know how much they AND their families give up- to keep us safe,comfortable, & secure, so if I can give back just a little bit, I'm more than happy to do so.
