Project Manager
Process Safety Team Leader
As the Team Leader in the Process Safety Department, I am the program manager of our adherence to OSHA's 29 CFR 1910.119 and the EPA’s Risk Management Plan. My focus is on maintaining compliance with these critical regulations and upholding Phillips 66's standards in health, safety, and environmental practices. I work diligently to integrate these principles into our daily operations, ensuring a safe and responsible work environment.
Unit Mechanical Engineer
In my role as a Mechanical Engineer, I was dedicated to supporting Refinery Operations in maintaining safe, reliable, and operational units. I helped managed our annual maintenance budget, ensuring projects were completed on time and within cost projections. Utilizing CMMS, I oversaw break/fix work in the Mechanical Engineering domain, directing the execution of code and PSM-compliant repair/replacement plans predominantly in an EPC fashion. My collaboration with unit Inspectors and Process Engineers was pivotal in resolving daily operational challenges. A significant aspect of my role involved focusing on reliability, analyzing failure rates and causes, and leveraging data to guide maintenance decision-making processes, thereby enhancing overall operational efficiency.Units: Steam and Cooling Plants, FCC, Crudes, Gas Recovery Plant
Operations Engineer
In this role, I led annual maintenance and small capital projects with budgets up to $2 million, overseeing all aspects from initial feasibility through to execution, commissioning, and closeout. I worked closely with finance and project control teams for precise forecasting of monthly contractor spend and adeptly developed and managed a comprehensive Long-Range Plan (LRP) for our assets. My expertise in understanding all facets of asset operation was pivotal in guiding effective maintenance, operational troubleshooting, and optimization strategies. Additionally, I was responsible for developing and managing the annual maintenance budget and providing 24/7 emergency engineering support, ensuring operational excellence and reliability.
Technical Project Manager / Operations Engineer
In this dynamic role, I delivered comprehensive project engineering, management, and commissioning services during the design and construction of a ~$200 million crude oil storage and transportation system in the Bakken Oil Field, executed through a Progressive Design Build (PDB) Alternative Delivery Method. My leadership extended across all project phases, guiding cross-functional teams in field and office settings through infrastructure design, procurement, construction, and commissioning/startup. I played a key role in information gathering for necessary permits, ensuring compliance with FERC, EPA, and local regulations, and regularly provided detailed verbal and written project updates to stakeholders within Phillips 66 Corporate. Additionally, I was involved in developing and reviewing customer interconnection agreements. Post startup, my responsibilities evolved to managing the annual maintenance expense and small capital project slate with budgets up to $1.5 million, demonstrating a commitment to both strategic project execution and ongoing operational excellence.
Mechanical Engineer - Tar Engineer
Provided turnaround engineering services as part of an integrated EPC team for BP in Prudhoe Bay Alaska. Direct responsibilities included: developing The Engineering Basis of Design, reviewing and approving Detailed Engineering Design Packages, assisting with procurement of all items required for project execution, collaborating with all supporting functions ranging from structural/electrical/instrument engineering to field-based construction contractors, and project closeout (MoC, Operations Turnover Documents). While my position was not directly with BP, I was an embedded team member and found the interface between Gathering Center Operations and the Turnaround Leadership Team a role I was well suited for. This was the best of both worlds, detailed engineering design as well as heavily integrated into the day to day field operations to best understand how we could accomplish each project within allotted time and budget.
Mechanical Engineer
I provided Mechanical Engineering services to a variety of clients where I was responsible for sizing and specification of equipment and connecting infrastructure, using CAD based tools to create detailed design drawings from the basis of design phase through Issued for Construction, and creating the sequence of operation for the building automation systems. In 2013 I transferred to the Bozeman Cushing Terrell regional office where I was the Mechanical Service Sector Leader (Lead Mechanical Engineer). My time and roles here allowed me to gain valuable experience in consulting where I provided Mechanical Engineering for New and Alteration projects in Office Buildings, Hospitals, Data Centers, Federal Government facilities
