Shawn Martinez is a managing director in FTI’s Data and Analytics practice. He has 20 years of experience in complex claims and events and has worked on large scale litigation engagements requiring data intensive analyses. He has extensive experience in the design and implementation of complex electronic data management systems, directing large project teams, and delivering quantitative and qualitative results.He has worked with a technology company on issues related to misuse of user information and third-party access of data. He has conducted outreach to client’s partnered organizations to determine the scope and scale of data acquisition as well as the intended and unintended utilization of the information and their adherence to the client’s data privacy policies.He has led a project team responsible for analyzing system data for a firm involved in the secondary market for life insurance and wrote several expert reports related to data extraction methodology, validation, and findings of various analyses.He has led several residential mortgage backed securities (RMBS) litigation engagements for large financial institutions. He assisted in the functional design of a mortgage underwriting system, developed quantitative analyses, and expert reports for several multi-billion dollar disputes.He has developed a methodology and model for distribution of a multi-billion dollar settlement associated with a large class action litigation and was responsible for ensuring the completeness and accuracy of underlying financial data. He has performed analyses and created trial exhibits related to litigation in U.S District Court.He has worked on matters involving data extraction and modeling to quantify potential damages in disputes involving multiple parties. He assisted in monitoring and complying with a court-mandated consent decree and conducted interviews of client personnel to facilitate process change implementation and database design.He has been responsible for ensuring the quality of client data for the purpose of querying and performing analyses on financial and accounting information contained in large-scale SQL Server databases.
