Manufacturing EngineerMerck Jan 2005 - Apr 2008Rahway, New Jersey, Us- I started at Merck as a 2nd shift manufacturing engineer for a high speed syringe filling line with Bausch & Strobel barrier isolator. - Attained hands-on experience operating the line and troubleshooting mechanical and electrical issues.- In 2005, I led a project responsible for lowering false rejection rate on the automated syringe inspection machine from >5% down to 1.2% on average. - I was responsible for writing and executing preventative maintenance plans for the Filling system, the Inspection system and the Syringe packaging systems (Syringe Labeler, denester, renester etc...).- During this time I developed a large breadth of knowledge around automated inspection machine operations by working on an Eisai syringe machine and 2 Brevetti vial machines. I left this job internally to pursue a position where I could continue to grow my skills working with automated inspection machines. I also had a desire to positively impact the company by putting my ability to use in the selection, design and installation of inspection machines; rather than my focus at the time of making improvements to existing systems.

Engineering Co-OpMerck Jul 1999 - Jan 2005Rahway, New Jersey, Us- During my time as a Drexel Co Op I served the role of Cap Ex project manager for a sterile water system replacement (Distillation units, WFI system, POU drops, and Clean Steam Generators).- I gained experience with the basics of all process utilities (WFI, CDA, HVAC) as well as vendor management.- This time was valuable to me as it served to set the base of knowledge upon which I could build on as a process engineer. - I believe that knowledge of these clean utilities are essential for understanding root causes of variability when designing or troubleshooting a process.- Remained employed part-time at Merck after returning to classes at Drexel. This helped to bridge the theoretical with reality as I progressed through my curriculum. I kept this part-time status until graduation.
