Shawn is the recently appointed CEO for the Trial Lawyers Association of BC. TLABC is a non-profit society with a membership of over 1400 legal professionals. It represents individuals united with the goals of protecting rights, ensuring access to the courts, preserving the jury system and maintaining the highest of standards in legal education.Prior to joining TLABC, Shawn was the Executive Director for the Vancouver Botanical Gardens Association (VBGA), the not-for-profit partner that operates the VanDusen Botanical Garden and the Bloedel Conservatory with the City of Vancouver. He leads a talented team of staff, board and more than 1,600 volunteers, all of whom are passionate about the natural world generally and the art of gardening more specifically.In addition to his work at TLABC, Shawn sits on the board of MEC -- Canada's largest outdoor cooperative retailer -- where he also chairs the governance committee. Shawn is also the past chair and Governance Lab program facilitator at Vantage Point, a Vancouver-based nonprofit focused on inspiring and building leadership in the voluntary sector. He is a Peer Reviewer with Imagine Canada’s Standards Program, where he is part of a panel that reviews submissions from Canadian charities and not-for-profits that are seeking accreditation under the program. Prior to his current roles, Shawn was the Director of Content and Engagement for CharityVillage, Canada's biggest online resource to the nonprofit sector. In this role, Shawn led all online editorial, training and community engagement initiatives and played a pivotal role in leading the migration and launch of content on the CharityVillage’s new site and platform.
He has also been the Vice President of Communications and Human Resources at WWF-Canada. It was Shawn's team at WWF-Canada that led the organization’s launch of Earth Hour in Canada – a campaign that mobilized 8 to 10 million Canadian participants in 2008.
