I MAKE IT HAPPEN:What makes me tick is creating and sustaining happy customers who book year-round here at the award-winning Camp Kawartha Outdoor Education Centre. Everyday I manage requests from school groups, corporations, wedding couples etc. to create a special experience for them. I enjoy managing projects and distilling copious information streams into a workable plan. A good day is juggling incoming random demands and creating a fabulous outcome. Being an Administrative Supervisor, Website Manager, and Production Manager among other roles over my 16 years at Citytv and CTV has given me the ability to make things happen. I started my career as a zookeeper - perhaps shovelling animal dung has given me the resilience to see the crap as a temporary distraction that can easily be cleared away.A FEW WORDS ON WORDS:Writing and editing is part of my job but I enjoy it so much I almost see it as a guilty pleasure. Working in a major market newsroom for the bulk of my working life has given me a great appreciation of the power of clever wording, the use of humour and insight into how language and humour bind us together. Good messaging requires outstanding visuals as well as outstanding words but it's the relationships and "feel" that people will remember. Communication has a lot to do with the intangibles such as creating trust, good will and a sense of community. RESULTS:The first year I was at Camp Kawartha, facility rental revenue increased by 15% and I'm on target to beat that this year. OTHER INTERESTS:I'm captivated by anything that breathes - oxygen or CO2, I'm not picky - and am a big fan of local history. I spend my free time working in the greenhouse, cruising design ideas on HOUZZ and riding my horse in the unspoiled nature of Peterborough County.
