I am a numbers person with a passion for dogs identified as pit bulls. I began my journey in the nonprofit field with a focus on fundraising and quickly transitioned to grant writer. I have extensive experience with the entire grant funding cycle across multiple disciplines and enjoy finding financial solutions to organizational constraints. I transitioned to the for-profit arena as an Accountant and most recently a Controller. I enjoy creating process improvements to improve workflow and am experienced at explaining financial concepts to non-financial stakeholders. Since 2012 I have been the President of Casa del Toro Pit Bull Rescue, and in 2019 we made the difficult decision to stop pulling dogs into the rescue. After 20+ years a pit bull rescue, our animal welfare problems in Indianapolis are just as bad as when we started, if not worse. We realized that our city cannot rescue its way out of the pet overpopulation problem, so we are focusing on supporting the 100+ alumni dogs that are in our community and helping dogs at the city municipal shelter.
