About Shawn Ritter

My name is Shawn Ritter, and I am currently looking for work as a software or web developer. I have many years of experience with web development and system administration. I have also been involved in a couple of C++ development projects that leveraged the Unreal Engine. In 2014, I completed a Bachelor of Science in Game Art with Full Sail University with a focus on creating Environment Art for Video Games. I then became involved with a small independent game studio based out of Edmonton, AB, where we worked on a remake of a classic game, "Raptor Call of the Shadows." I worked as a digital artist on the project and created and optimized 3d assets and textures. In 2017, I returned to school to pursue a Bachelor of Science Degree with a major in Computing Science and a minor in Chemistry. While working through my degree, I became involved with a non-profit organization that worked out of the University, called the King's Centre for Visualization of Science (KCVS). I have now had five years of experience working on collaborative web development and software development projects. While working with KCVS we used various design methodologies and collaborated on a number of projects with international partners. A particularly influential project for me was the two year C++development of a Computational Chemistry simulation implemented inside the Unreal Engine and intended for Virtual Reality.I completed my Computer Science Degree with Distinction and graduated from The King's University in June of 2022. I am currently working to support the 2023 Election as an IT Support Technician for the Spruce Grove - Stony Plain Region.

Listed skills include Maya, Texturing, Zbrush, Game Design, and 13 others.

I have been a dynamic and engaged member of our team, and I have helped to deal with server hardware as well as server administration and deployment. Our team has developed new web applications for learning which are used worldwide, and we have updated, maintained and modernized many legacy web resources. Through my time with KCVS, I have had the privilege of working with many international groups such as the UN, the EU, IUPAC, and OPCW on educational resources that have been peer-reviewed for chemical and physical education. Our web development pipeline makes extensive use of HTML, CSS, Javascript and Jquery. We have also made extensive use of git, Trello and miro to enhance collaboration. For the past two years, I have been involved in a collaborative project with the University of Toronto with the goal of developing a Molecular Dynamics simulation in the Unreal Engine, which is intended to be a Virtual Reality learning tool. We have been building our simulation in C++ as a plugin that can be added to the game engine and which can read standard molecule data, as well as which can be used to build its own molecules. I am also currently working as a senior developer with KCVS and assisting in leading a team of junior developers on our web development projects. Show less
