Oil Refinery. Performed quality assurance using analytical chemistry for the largest Oil Refinery in the northern-tier market. Assured that finished products met Federal Aviation Administration (FAA), Department of Transportation (DOT), Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), and Minnesota Pollution Control Agency (MPCA) specifications. Tested and analyzed raw crude, waste water effluent, carbon dioxide, propane, sulfuric acid, reformulated gasoline, aviation fuel, jet fuel, fuel oil, heating oil, roofing flux, and asphalt binders using: knock engines, Gas Chromatography (GC), Nuclear Magnetic Resonance (NMR), Spectrophotometry, Liquid Column Chromatography (LCC), x-ray absorption, x-ray diffraction, Dynamic Shear Reometery (DSR), Bending Beam Reometry (BBR), fractional distillation’s, titration’s, extraction’s, viscosity’s, electrochemical analysis, and various other chemical and physical analysis.

Acidulents Plant. Performed quality assurance using analytical chemistry for the world's largest producer of pharmaceutical grade Malic Acid, Fumaric Acid, and Tripotassium Citrate using: High Performance Liquid Chromatography (HPLC), Infrared Spectroscopy, Karl Fisher titration’s, acid-base titration’s, particle size analysis, electrochemical analysis, analysis for heavy metals, and various other chemical and physical analysis. Wrote Certificates of Analysis (CofA), and assured that finished products met Food and Drug Administration (FDA), Food Chemical Codex (FCC), National Formulary (NF), and United States Pharmacopeia (USP) specifications.

Conducted scientific research funded by the EPA and National Science Foundation (NSF). Executed scientific experiments on zooplankton, and Alcaligenes eutrophus, a genetically engineered bacterium that has the ability to biodegrade polychlorinated compounds. Identified and quantified changes in the zooplankton community that resulted from various treatments of 2,4-D, a common broadleaf defoliant, and Alcaligenes eutropus. Produced results yielding data on the development of more effective microcosms and a method of tracing genetically engineered organisms. Collaborated results with Senior Scientists, Research Fellows, and the EPA. Acknowledged for major contributions in scientific publications.
