Currenthttps://technovationmn.orgInspiring the next generation of women technology entrepreneurs.Technovation[MN] was formed to bring the global Technovation Challenge to Minnesota. Through an intensive 3-month, 50-hour curriculum teams of teen girls, ages 10-18, work together to imagine, design, and develop mobile apps that solve real problems in their community. We provide information, resources, and encouragement for Minnesota Technovation Challenge teams including mentor recruitment and training. We host several App Days and Appapalooza, our finale event here in Minnesota, where the girls ‘pitch’ their mobile app ideas. In 2018 we expanded our offering and launched the Amazon Alexa Skills Challenge. We are challenging teams of girls to come up with skills that solve everyday problems.Since 2014, we have inspired over 2,500 girls on 80 teams from 51 schools throughout Minnesota. Nineteen teams were semifinalists in the Global Technovation Challenge. One Technovation[MN] team was among the 10 finalist teams to pitch their app to Silicon Valley executives in San Francisco. Our 2015 Finalist team participated in the 6th Annual White House Science Fair in 2016. The top 2016 and 2017 Minnesota teams was entered into the semifinal round of the MN Cup Youth Division. Over 300 professional women and men have built a Minnesota network of support for Technovation[MN] girls as their coaches and mentors. Over 160 mobile apps have been created by Technovation[MN] participants. Our Technovation[MN] girls have completed almost 12,000 hours of coding all on apps that solve local community problems. If you are interested in inspiring young girls to change the world through technology, visit https://technovationmn.org.
