For more than a decade, Shawn Walter has been cultivating his career to become the leader he is today.From his early years as a project manager at Whiting-Turner Contracting Company, one of nation’s top general building contractors, he learned the art of building and sustaining relationships, and the science of negotiating to yield a high return. As a building development manager for Valcourt Building Services, he focused on a strategic marketing plan targeting specific industry sectors and outpaced his colleagues, leading sales for five straight years. When promoted to Valcourt’s general manager, Shawn led a ten-person team with $8 million in annual revenue. His responsibilities shifted and his role was centered on recruitment, retention, and daily growth and management of the Washington, D.C. office.Now the Chief Executive Officer of Timber Industries,LLC, a WBE-certified pallet management company, Shawn is leveraging his business prowess, team leadership skills and personal drive to decrease corporate expenses, improve processes and enhance marketing and technology. Under his management, Timber Industries is executing new strategies that aim to double the company’s annual revenue.Shawn’s passion for what he believes in is infectious. He feels that nothing happens without a good idea and assumes every idea is a possibility.
