About Shay Chalmers

I am an engineering management professional and speaker with global experience spanning a wide range of manufacturing environments from steel to medical devices. Based in Queensland, I see every day how our manufacturers offer some of the highest quality products using an extremely high level of intellect, and custom problem-solving skills. I am proud to be working alongside these people.Earlier in my career, I was based in the USA working for a consolidated steel mill. Rising quickly to leadership, I was managing 150 male staff at age 25. Following this period, I spent six years working with Cook Medical in production, process engineering and project management travelling throughout Australia and Europe. In 2017 I created the company Strategic Engineering Australia and now offer my expertise as a consultant across a wide range of manufacturing applications. Services include strategic planning and development, process re-engineering and project and program management.Over the next decade, Australia will face a skills shortage, and we will be fighting on a world stage for talent to support our industries. As an industry leader, I hold positions on multiple boards and committees. My goal is to drive and inspire positive change to address these issues. In collaboration with government and industry, I am committed to ensuring a prosperous and innovative new reality for Australian manufacturing.
