Shay Scott, Ph.D. serves as Vice Dean and Chief Operating Officer for Digital Learning at the University of Tennessee. In this capacity, Dr. Scott leads the operations and works closely with the Dean & CEO to craft and implement strategy. Digital Learning at UT exists to support the University of Tennessee in its educational mission through employment of digital and innovative technologies.Dr. Scott also serves as Professor of Practice in the Department of Supply Chain Management at The University of Tennessee, which is regularly ranked as a top SCM program globally. Prior to his current role, he led the Global Supply Chain Institute at the University of Tennessee in its work to advance the knowledge and practice of supply chain management.Prior to joining the University of Tennessee, Scott led the Americas International Logistics organization at Dell where he had responsibility for Dell's outbound supply chain from the US to points throughout the world. While at Dell he also held a variety of other positions of increasing responsibility including a leadership position with Dell's DSi2 project prominently featured in publications such as the Wall Street Journal and Businessweek. He holds a US patent for innovative supply chain processes developed and implemented globally. Dr. Scott holds a Ph.D, an MBA, a Master of Science in Industrial Engineering, and a Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering. His research focuses in international business, supply chain management, and the the future of management education. Scott has consulted with firms in the high tech, transportation, international logistics, and chemical industries. He has studied, worked, and traveled in over 60 countries on six continents.
