Ten years ago, if you asked me where I’d be now, I would have said "Recently graduated with my Doctorate in Pharmacy" ...boy, how things have changed. While I was in this doctorate program, I noticed a lack of passion. My time was so consumed by my school work that I neglected my hobbies and lost control over my life/school balance. Looking for inspiration, I worked as a summer intern at a production agency, DGA Productions, in Watertown MA. I also started a YouTube channel where I would document my day-to-day life just to force myself to put my camera to use. I never thought that these two decisions would completely change the path of my career, but they made me realize that yes, pharmacy was a huge interest of mine, but it wasn't my passion. So I didn't pursue it.My experience at DGA opened my eyes to an entire world of avenues that I wanted to explore. There were directors, producers, filmmakers, editors, lighting, audio, props, assistants, etc. I looked forward to my time on set and I had fun learning all of the different roles that make up a production. Along with assisting and learning on set, I ran the agency's social media accounts and managed their website. A few years later, I was hired at Tandem Buzz, a digital marketing agency in Fort Lauderdale, Florida as their Creative Services Manager. I oversaw the social media team, supplied graphics for social networking channels, created ad creative for the PPC team, created landing pages, designed/developed/managed clients' websites, and took photos and videos for our clients. This is where I really learned how to incorporate marketing with design.Fast forward to today, I bring these skills and passions into my own design business, shaye.design 💚 Here I specialize in creating brand identities, designing/developing websites, graphic design, and more. I never saw myself as someone who would drop out of a doctorate program. But I can truly say I have no regret in taking that chance! I love what I do BECAUSE it's my hobby. Don't let others convince you to think you can't have both! 💚
