In my Ph.D. project, I have specifically examined the health system gaps from a range of stakeholders’ perspectives impeding developing countries to achieve their End TB targets. My first two research articles, examining the health system gaps in the context of drug-resistant tuberculosis (DR-TB), are submitted for publication in peer-reviewed journals. I am also near to finalizing two additional papers, where I have critically analyzed the financial risks patients are exposed to while seeking care for DR-TB. I expect to complete my Ph.D. by Jan 2021

Responsibilities included:• Devising research proposals and conducting research studies on public health issues in the region.• Developing prevention and management guidelines for communicable diseases prevalent in the region.• Conducting training workshops for healthcare workers on infection control practices and precautions.• Reporting on infectious diseases (tuberculosis, HIV, MERS-CoV, and Hepatitis).• Organising national conferences on communicable diseases.• Conducting regular public health promotion sessions.Key accomplishments1. Completed two research projects and published work in academic journals.2. Planned and organized two national conferences on HIV and Tuberculosis.

Responsibilities included:• Analysing data on HIV among women, children, and at-risk populations; making information available for evidence-based programming.• Conducting field visits to monitor HIV and maternal health programs across the country; participating in periodic program reviews with Government and UN counterparts.• Collaborating with government offices in planning and conducting training programs for healthcare providers.• Initiating integration of Prevention of Parent-to-Child Transmission (PPTCT) and pediatric AIDS care in maternal health programs and other relevant sectoral programs, including emergency preparedness.Key accomplishments1. Designed and implemented (in collaboration with government and UNICEF field offices) a district model healthcare plan for HIV in 12 districts in Pakistan with the highest burden of HIV.2. Facilitated district training workshops for healthcare workers on HIV and maternal health as lead trainer.3. Co-created key national documents including emergency obstetric care, national guidelines on prevention of mother-to-child transmission of HIV, and Paediatric AIDS guidelines4. Arranged evaluation of HIV district model initiative in Pakistan.

Responsibilities included:• Providing clinical care and sexual and reproductive health counseling to general patients, people living with HIV, and HIV positive pregnant women.• Conducting training sessions on maternal and newborn health, family planning, and HIV• Leading the training facilitation for health care providers including nursing staff, program staff, and community outreach workers.• Training NGO staff providing services to at-risk adolescents, sex workers, and drug users on counseling and sexual reproductive health.Key accomplishmentEstablished and supervised the first national HIV clinic in Pakistan providing obstetric and sexual reproductive healthcare to HIV-positive pregnant women.

Responsibilities included - Providing inpatient and outpatient obstetric and gynecological care to women- Supervising the emergency department for adequate and timely provision of emergency obstetric care - Independent visits to primary healthcare units in nearby villages to provide sexual reproductive healthcare to women and families and conducting teaching sessions in the community on basic health, family planning, and sexually transmitted infections.- Performing major and minor obstetric and gynecological surgeries- Facilitating training workshops on maternal and newborn health for community workers and healthcare providers including nursing and paramedical staff.-
