There are two things I have come to value: stories and intentionality. Whether in my work or everyday interactions, I wake up every day knowing I want to pursue these two notions.Of all the creative endeavours I have explored, architecture is the most engaging and fulfilling profession I have experienced that enables me to play a part in people's stories. It is through architecture that I can implant design with as much care and thoughtfulness as possible. Great architects are creative storytellers. Great architects are intentional designers.I have always been an elaborate storyteller. I love creating worlds, characters, and adventures in which I could lose myself. I have also always enjoyed creating and sharing these worlds with others. I love creating something from nothing and sharing all the pieces of its story. Whether it has been a piece of graphic design, apparel, a video, or a work of architecture, I always embed things I build with intention and a good story. As a design thinker, I also attempt to understand the artistic intention in design when exploring the world around me. This perspective on understanding the intent of ideation is an all-encompassing filter through which to see the world. I am constantly, celebrating, critiquing, or sharing ideas I find in the world. It is inescapable. That is why I chose to become an architect. To participate in society as a professional in my field to create architectures with a concise narrative, that are designed with intention, and reflect the stories and values of clients, communities, and cities.During my education training and internship experiences, I have a better understanding of the immense responsibility architects have to society and why the interest of the general public is of the utmost concern. I understand that the technical competency of the professional is paramount and architectures must be energy-performative based on their environment. In publicly designed spaces inclusivity and universal design need to be principal considerations. I also recognize the need for a robust understanding of building codes, bylaws, and the regulatory aspects of the profession.Good architects are great storytellers. Good architects are intentional designers.
