I’m passionate about the people of an organization. Employees are the engine of businesses and it’s crucial that we create cultures in which they can thrive.As a First Sergeant for the United States Air Force—essentially a military unit’s Human Resources Manager, I have a deep appreciation for companies that foster positive workplace cultures and invest in their employees’ personal and professional development. I know how important my current role is in achieving these objectives and I strive to identify and resolve the interpersonal problems my teams face before they can develop into larger issues. My experience has it has taught me to think outside the box, troubleshoot complex problems, and find innovative yet safe ways to reach the company’s goals. Responsible for managing 260 airmen, I am often in group presentation situations where I train members on new policies and procedures. Ensuring they understand and comply to the vision and objectives of the commander as well as the Air Force. In addition to these duties, I ensure the health, morale, and welfare of the airmen. This is accomplished using a variety of tools such as; mediation and conflict resolution, mentoring (formal and informal), resource procurement, and when necessary disciplinary action.As an educator I have gained the skillset to create and execute plans to successfully disseminate information in a way that each person can not only understand but apply. This included ensuring each individual is successful not matter what their level, learning style or personal challenges may be. I have extensive experience in creating positive change as well as developing and implementing best practice policies to yield a desirable outcome for both projects as well as the company at large.
