My name is Sheema Sameen and I worked as postdoctoral researcher in computational genomicsgroup of IBM TJ Watson Research Center from October, 2016 to May, 2019. In IBM myexperience varied from unraveling genomics of complex disorders like Alzheimer’s disease anddeveloping various computational and mathematical models for understanding Immunotherapyto explore cancer response mechanisms. Alzheimer’s project was in collaboration with NIH inwhich we explored whole genome data by applying various machine learning and network analysisapproaches for developing algorithms, pipelines and techniques to understand reasons behind complexdisorder.Working in IBM has deeply enhanced my experience as researcher and also sharpened myskills to work in large group and industry. I like challenges and Alzheimer’s project with NIH notonly added thrill to my research life but also made me learn to manage stress with lots of workload.have PhD in computer science from University of Pisa, Italy (May 2019), where my workwas focused on hybrid modeling of cancer drug resistance mechanisms, for that I have workedclosely with clinicians and physicians, which gave me deep understanding of biological problems andclinical issues for cancer therapies.My PhD and postdoctoral experience made my area of expertise vast, ranging from Systems biologyto Computational biology including machine learning, mathematical and computational modeling.I also have advantage of working on several biological data types including: mutation, SNP, copynumber and expression data by utilizing computational environments of R, Python, Octaveand Linux. Above all, I am a passionate researcher and always ready to explore new ideas. Ilike challenges and able work on complex problems and find solution on my own.
