Head Of Global Online Education DevelopmentUlster University Dec 2018 - PresentI lead a strategic change project with each faculty and a series of project work streams supported by cross-function teams from professional services. The role involves identifying suitable course provision, business case development and course approval for design, development and delivery to time and budget, establishing new policies and processes to support an enterprising and flexible carousel operating model, on recruitment and retention, and on income generation. Following a two-year public sector procurement and contract negotiation period, the first four postgraduate part-time online courses have been adopted and are at various stages of the product pipeline, including accredited courses in MSc Biomedical Science and MSc Health Psychology and two business related courses MSc Business in Tech and Fintech Management. I lead governance of the partnership services contract and its day-to-day implementation across the University, including with: stakeholders in Faculties such as Executive Deans, Associates Deans, Heads of School, Course Directors and Module Leaders and in professional services such as the Library, People and Culture, Registry and Examinations, Student Systems, Student Support, Digital Services, Fees and Finance and academic services such as the Office for Digital Learning, Academic Standards and Quality, and the Centre for Higher Education and Research Practice.I have substantial budget responsibilities across strategic investment for implementation, additional and distributed staffing required for the new processes, and the overheads for culture-changing and enterprising academic operations including Library, Online Tutors, Course Development Resourcing. As an academic developer I have experience of educational staff development and mentoring, course design, teaching, and assessment. I have contractual project management experience as a usability consultant. I have taught over 10 000 students, delivered over 12 000 hours of teaching and contact and have high quality metrics for my units, all of which have a significant online presence. I have led, planned, designed, delivered, assessed, examined, moderated, managed and evaluated undergraduate and postgraduate online and blended learning courses. These were in a range of disciplines, including information systems, systems analysis and design, human computer interaction, professional development, knowledge-based systems, multi-media learning environments, employability, management organisations, strategic management, project management skills and academic practice. My experience includes course delivery to diverse groups of UG and PG, including international students.I supervised over 50 MSc projects, over 80 UG projects, and acted as Director of studies for two PhDs. Externally, I have held external examining duties at MSc and PhD level for Manchester University’s School of Informatics. I have had a leading role in programme design, and delivery and in the development of assessment and feedback strategies, as Curriculum Group Leader for BSc (Hons) Computing and as an Academic Developer for the Postgraduate Certificate in Academic Practice (PGCAP). This includes representation on PSRB accreditation panels (BCS, HEA). I have as held administrative roles as an Admissions Tutor and Placements Tutor and Chair of the Schools Learning Developments Group a role to enhance quality through Learning Development projects.
