I lead the Community Development and Support team at the Royal Society of Chemistry with responsibility for the strategies and approach for engagement, community development and support of RSC membership and wider communities. I lead a team of about 18 people and the key areas I am responsible for are:-Member Engagement, Volunteer Engagement, Public Engagement and Outreach Funding-Member Networks – over 120 member-led networks including Local & International Sections, Interest Groups-Chemists' Community Fund - which provides specialist support and guidance, as well as financial support for individuals in personal need. I'm responsible for driving expansion of this support through new grants schemes, partnerships and wellbeing services.I am Secretary to the RSC Member Communities Board, which is one of the four Boards under the RSC Board of Trustees. In previous roles at the RSC, I have managed and developed the strategy for the Royal Society of Chemistry’s overall diversity programme, setting up a new Inclusion and Diversity Committee and launching a Diversity Fund and Diversity Prize. I have managed the RSC Careers team, setting up a new mentoring programme to provide peer-to-peer support among RSC members. I have also previously managed the RSC Library and Information Centre, which includes online access to journals, ebooks, databases as well as our physical library at Burlington House, London. I worked in communications at the Royal Society of Chemistry for five years (media relations, corporate communications, policy, member communications, internal communications). Prior to this my background is in Physics with an MPhys degree at University of Bath, technician at Cambridge Display Technology, and postgraduate research student at the University of Cambridge.
