I’m a creative problem solver, and base decisions on data, always taking a step back to consider the bigger picture. While I strive for careful consideration and attention to the little details in all that I do, I understand the business needs for pragmatic approaches, and know that there are nuances to every situation. I believe that good design works because of simplicity, rules, and constraints - not in spite of them. I enjoy learning new things to progress my own knowledge and shift my perspective.Most of my time lately has been spent enjoying the creation of well-documented, rationalised, reusable, extensible libraries of components and design systems, as a platform for a product to grow easily from a set of core building blocks into a polished, functional UI. I’m the one who ‘makes it responsive’, who considers how users interact with an interface, how a product feels to use, along with impacts on accessibility, performance, maintainability and reusability. I believe that HTML and CSS are the core tools of a progressive, accessible, and performant web, and strive to solve problems using them, with a sprinkling of JavaScript only when needed for interactive or presentational necessity.
