• Worked on the Groupon API team and identified user pain points for the route request process which previously involved manually manipulating large JSON files• Automated the route request process by designing a UI to allow clients to proxy their requests to the correct backend service• Implemented this new process using React, Node.js, HTML/CSS, and an internal framework• Shortened the time to process each request down by ~90%

For 3 days, I shadowed 3 teams in Goodyear Tire and Rubber Company and got to learn about what their roles are in the company. I shadowed the Data Science team, the Customer Centered Innovation team and the Business Model Innovation team. The Data Science team was mainly centered around coding, which was what I was interested in but the other teams were very consumer heavy. Through this, I developed a liking to potential other career paths.

For 2 weeks, I got the opportunity to work in a company called Pt. Indorama under the Polyester Business Unit. I learned about all the machines and reactors involved in making polyester fibres and chips and also worked in the Chemical Lab. I focused on two projects; the IV Analysis and the X-Ray machine to check the quality of the products in various stages of the production process.

For 3 days, I got an opportunity to spend my time in a company called PT Thiess Contractors Indonesia where I got to explore each sector within the company and learn more about the organisation. As Thiess Indonesia is one of Indonesia's largest private contractors working in the resource, process engineering, infrastructure, and power sectors, I got to explore the one thing I am passionate about: engineering, and also look into the professional life of engineers.
