Peer-review of 'JACC: Cardiovascular Imaging' submissions.

Being interested in research and cardiology, I have been offered a chance to join the MYF to attend the HCM clinic as a cardiologist where I have been mentored and supervised by Dr. Sarah Moharem-Elgamal, and enriched with experience in:• Management of different cases of HCM, with spotlight on Hypertrophic Cardiomyopathy.• Experience in Trans-Thoracic Echocardiography and Cardiac MRI.• Responsibility of being a Data Entry Specialist for research purposes. • Profound knowledge of research ethics and methodology in an international organisations, like MYF.As research data manager, since April 2015, my main responsibilities are: * Preparation of protocols and Case Report Forms (CRF) processes, finalisation of monitoring and data management options (Using REDCap system and Paxera MRS). * Ethics committee approval, the provision of clinical trial materials and recruitment, and monitor the management of the research process from initial protocol to the results release. * Training rest of projects team members on clinical trials and on-going research development. * Coordinate the smooth monitoring of all research projects by identifying and supporting qualified staff, establishing audit procedures and ensuring that cleaned data is entered into the database in a timely fashion. * Participate on global clinical research teams under the supervision of ‘Magdi Yacoub Research Network’ to ensure that colleagues are updated on all relevant issues. * Ensure the smooth running of the clinical research department by developing systems to track projects including all study, investigator and ethical review board information, patient recruitment activity. * Implement training programmes for the research staff with topics that include: principles and practices of project management, team communication, computer software and IT training, protocol and CRF writing, and troubleshooting.

The Durable Solutions Unit in UNHCR Cairo identifies and submits cases for Resettlement to different countries. One of the criteria for Resettlement is Medical Needs, for which a completed Medical Assessment Form (MAF) needs to be attached to the submission. MAF Physician is responsible of filling out the MAF as per the request of the Durable Solutions Unit.

My enthusiasm to become a renowned cardiologist and my eagerness to manage multi-disciplinary approach patients, and for the sake of many helpless patients who need proper management mostly for long times; thus, a group of residents at NHI decided to found the IEC team to be responsible of these cases, where we follow guidelines and experience of other centres worldwide. Our guide was the IEC Team of Al-Qasr Al-Ainy Hospital (Lead by Prof. Marwa Meshaal), who infuses us with her team’s experience about how to deal with such cases through weekly clinical rotations at NHI, and that added me the following: • Manage a multi system (Nephrology, Neurology, Vascular) disease as malignant as cancer.• Decision making concerning medical and surgical intervention of these cases.• Advanced critical care skills required for management of complicated IEC cases.• Team work among residents, specialists, consultants of different specialties as well as clinical pharmacists.• Antibiotic stewardship.• Experience in Trans-Thoracic Echocardiography.

To be a successful doctor, who is able to relieve the diseases burden off individuals and whole society too, at any level: from prevention, through any stage of disease and finally, rehabilitation; I decided to include public health medicine strategy into my practice by volunteering at the public health department and after being an active intern at public health department at Ain Shams University, I have been offered a great chance to be a part of research teams and I’ve been intensely taught at the formerly mentioned locations about:• Research methodology.• Research ethics.• Impact of life style modification on Type 2 DM.• Basics of research methodology.• Basics of community and occupational medicine.• How to be an active team work member.• Participating in activities in cooperation with international identities as WHO(EMRO), EU Programme, and University of Kuopio (Finland).

Being interested in research and fascinated with the human body, and the unseen structures, I needed to explore more about it and I have been offered a chance to join the microscopy unit where I learnt and practiced: • Basics of microscopy.• Electron Microscopy (Transmission and Scanning).• Atomic Force Microscopy.
