As President of the Irish Nurses and Midwives Organisation (2008-2012) I gained invaluable experience in leading a large high profile organisation. My role involved lobbying, liaising and consulting key stakeholders, government departments, public and private health care providers, professional bodies, education providers and social partners in relation to the profession, clinical practice, patient safety and terms and conditions for nurses ans midwives. I have continually developed clinical, strategic and project management skills through experience, forward planning and keeping up to date with national and international developments in nursing and midwifery and wider health issues. in addition I consistently transfer and adapt the skills learned from previous experiences to current positions while continually building on knowledge to enhance my performance to effectively and efficiently achieve each challange.
