Tools Developer - Proposal Writing ToolAutomated Proposal tools: Proposal Designer (700+ users), Pragmatech SmartDoc (250+ users) & SANT RFPMaster (500+ users): 15 Countries, 12 languages, 70,000+ documents, average deal size of >€100k.Technology - VB6, SQL, C#, XML, ASP, Word and Excel Object Model, Pragmatech, SANTIntegrated the Proposal Designer Tool with a large SANT database to allow selection and retrieval of data for inclusion in proposal documents, giving users up-to-date information for the automated building of flexible and consistent bids.Reduced costs to Dell by enhancing the Proposal Tools and increasing speed and accuracy of bidding.Produced a number of document types (Proposals, SoWs, P&Ls, Reference Architecture documents), specifically involved with coding and writing macros to draw information from various sources.Rewrote the Pragmatech Reference Architecture tool and significantly enhanced the SoW generator to include better information and metrics.Supported, rewrote and enhanced a web site that provided usage metrics for Pragmatech tools (location, job function, content and document type) to prove business case for the tools.Achieved excellent user feedback (A+ avg) for the Proposal Designer Tool.Wrote a C# web service to transform a Dell quote in xml into the proprietary ‘table’ format required by the SANT system. It enabled them to select relevant fields to produce marketing documents, simple letters,customer invoices and statements.Scoped requirements with Product Manager and customers, designed data structures and user interfaces. Coded 70% of the Communication tracking system to support flexible retrieval of client communications. Designed and tested the data migration software. Provided second line support for released product.Project Manager, Iris Internal CRM Project 1998-2002Technology – Pivotal, MS SQL, Crystal Reports, Informix, VBSignificantly improved business operations and customer relationships by rewriting an existing application and adding enhanced functionality on upgraded technology. Recommended an appropriate CRM package after identifying requirements. Designed the data structures, coding, screens, processes, security model, and data migration. Programmed 80% of the project: business areas covered included: marketing, quotation, orders, sales target management, invoices, receipts, software license production, support call logging, issue recording, software releases, calls, meetings, letters, and product stats. Designer/Implementer, Custom & Excise Chief Project with BT 89-94Technology – C, PCs, ICL VME Operating systemDesigned and implemented complex middleware multi-threading software.Wrote a test environment to enable complete regression unit testing.Background: Chief is a large system which handles HMC&E import and export data, implemented by BT Syntegra. The solution involved extensive bespoke middleware layers and required a ‘sponsor’ (the software between PC and VME), to insulate the applications and some middleware layers from changes in implementation of the cross machine interface (intervening between ICL’s TPMS, a bespoke database handler, the terminal handler and timer channels, receiving messages, storing them and reformatting them for forwarding to further processing steps).
