Sheila is a Partner at NISK Capital, a boutique corporate finance and investment advisory firm covering East and Central Africa. NISK has raised in excess of U.S. $1.5 billion across 6 countries in the past 9 years since its founding. Sheila has been central to the firm’s growth and under her leadership, NISK has served a diverse range of clients at different phases in their business life cycle, from blue-chip firms and rapidly growing SMEs to stressed and distressed special situations. Sheila is also responsible for NISK’s strategic partnerships particularly in the film and technology sectors, and is leading NISK’s partnership with a Hollywood based studio on setting up a pan-African film fund.Whether it's devising innovative financing structures or identifying strategic investment opportunities, Sheila has demonstrated the ability to navigate complex financial landscapes and deliver tailored solutions for clients since starting out her career on Wall Street in New York with Goldman Sachs. Her professional interests cut across finance, investing and public policy, particularly in developing and emerging markets. Beyond her Investment Banking experience, Sheila has corporate governance experience in Commercial Banking at the Board level. Since 2019, she has served as an Independent Non-Executive Director on the Board of CIB Kenya; a Kenyan subsidiary of Egypt’s largest private bank, chairing various committees including, Credit, Audit and HR. Outside of the financial services world, Sheila’s public policy interests are driven by a deep commitment to creating tangible impact at scale, and the belief in every African’s fundamental human right to economic independence and a dignified life. As a Presidential Appointee to the Kenya National Investment Council of Kenya, Sheila tackles issues pertaining to investment policy with the goal of growing and enhancing private investment as a key driver to delivering on Kenya’s economic transformation agenda. Sheila also previously worked as an Advisor to the CEO of The Rwanda Development Board, supporting the advancement of private sector investments as a part of Rwanda’s economic transformation agenda. Sheila holds a Master in Business Administration from Harvard Business School, a Master in Public Administration from Harvard Kennedy School and a Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering from Brown University.
