Sheila’s passion is to ensure all children and their families have access to the tools and equipment they need at the time they need it to maximise their gross motor skills. She enjoys helping children access their world around them via movement and supportive equipment such as seating systems, standers, walkers and introductory powered mobility devices where appropriate. Supporting how a child accesses their environment provides a strong foundation for a child to continue to develop their social, fine motor, communication, play and cognitive skills. Sheila is dedicated to working with a child’s entire health team, and loves working closely with her fellow occupational therapists, as well as external speech pathologists and educators to achieve a common family-centred goal. She happily liaises with paediatricians, Royal Children’s Hospital or other specialists, NDIS support coordinators, NDIS Local Area Coordinators, daycares, preschools and schools to ensure that a child’s team is working cohesively.Sheila has experience working with children with Trisomy 21 (Downs Syndrome), Cerebral Palsy, Cardiac Defects, Rare Genetic Disorders, Cystic Fibrosis, Global Development Delay, and Gait (walking) variations including toe walking and in toeing.
