As an educational consultant, I provide training & mentoring for teachers in their classroom practice, especially in the areas of asking good questions, creating assessments, increasing engagement in learning & cooperative learning. My change consultancy work has been in the areas of stakeholder consultation & strategic planning using Cognitive Edge methods.

The lectures & seminars I do at NIE include Communication & Mentoring, Psychological Perspectives in Learning & Assessment. I’m also a practicum supervisor.

In this role I turned around the Programme department & created an urban farming ‘academy’ reaching out to a wide audience, from pre-school to university, SPED, corporates & seniors. Our Programmes included themes such as Edible Gardening, Sustainability, Food Security & Therapeutic Horticulture. We taught folks to build gardens, maintain them & activate them for various purposes.I worked a lot with schools, often with teachers & sometimes also with at-risk students.Together with the team we built food forests, urban farms & sensory gardens through which we enticed folks to build a closer relationship with their food.

I provided instructional design for skills programmes. I also created workshops for values cascade, teambuilding & communication. I especially enjoyed including experiential learning & formative assessment elements in the design.

As training coordinator, I had oversight on the quality and content of training and leadership development.

In this role I championed innovation through training in design thinking, funding innovation projects, providing platforms for showcasing innovations & looking into issues of intellectual property.

As a pioneer in this teacher development setup, I led the team in creating teacher action learning groups which we called learning circles (LC). LCs had teachers investigate their classroom practice enabled by the disciplines of reflection & dialogue.
