From being a child whose personality was rooted in curiosity with a magnifying glass, to a grown woman who will try her best to understand why people do the things they do, she landed at a Design college after 4 years of High School. She was able to satiate her desire to understand human nature. She enjoys watching international news as she believes the world is integrated, as events in other countries might affect us all. Sheila finds joy watching wildlife programmes; anticipating the feeling of connecting with a swarm of ants or a colony of bees makes her feel alive or better yet a pod of whales traveling together, trying to find mates and food. She finds pleasure in documentaries highlighting culture, travel, true crime and history. Besides that, she takes pleasure in reading African novels, as they make her feel a strong connection to her African heritage!Most people would probably assume that artistic ability and creative flair are the essential qualities a designer needs to possess, however, Sheila is motivated by her great sense of empathy and human understanding which helps her create solutions that are not just impactful, but desirable.On the surface, Sheila Zubeda is a Design Researcher with over 5 years of experience. Having worked for different organisations over the course of her career. She is currently working for Spindle Design as a Designer Researcher at Spindle Design.Most can tell that she is a rare talent who can gracefully swim through ambiguity as she is gradually practicing her storytelling abilities through creating storyboards, user stories, collecting narratives from field research and creating personas, user journeys and testing prototypes at Spindle Design. "Great designers and researchers understand that sometimes we conduct research to empathise and learn, and sometimes we conduct research using the scientific method for greater precision because the decisions made from the research have a higher consequence to the business or the experience design"Understanding business goals, user goals, and creating an experience by bringing the research to life is my work.
