Senior Associate Attorney at the Law Offices of Shannon C. Smith, P.L.L.C practicing in the areas of business law, ABC law, vintage spirits law, employment and labor law, discrimination, contract negotiation, and estate planning. Currently handles a variety of cases from consultation to resolution. Began practicing law at Adams, Hayward & Welsh, and prior to becoming an Attorney, clerked for the firm for 18 months while attending law school at the University of Louisville. Primarily conducted research, drafted briefs, memorandums, motions, and pleadings, in addition to meeting with clients. Previously a Summer Fellow at the Kentucky Department of Public Advocacy (DPA), helping to prepare discovery for trial, researching relevant case law, drafting memorandums, and shadowing experienced public defenders. Continued work at the DPA as an extern during her third year of law school and again, pro bono in 2020. While earning her bachelor's degree in Criminal Justice at Marshall University, served as a legal intern for two years at the law firm of Offutt Nord, PLLC. Primarily organized case files, obtained medical records, and delivered legal documents to opposing counsel and judges. Previously served in leadership roles such as Vice President of the American Constitution Society while attending law school, and President, Vice President of Philanthropy, and Vice President of Programming of the Marshall University chapter of Delta Zeta while earning her bachelor's degree. Earned several awards for success in such leadership roles including Marshall University's Senior Leadership Award given to one (1) member of the 2017 graduating class, 2017 Panhellenic President of the Year, and the Grace Mason Lundy Award given to six (6) Delta Zetas internationally. In her free time, enjoys listening to live music and expressing her creativity though mediums including watercolor, acrylic, and oil painting.
