Research assistant for the SHE (Sexual Health Empowerment) Study within the office of Preventive Medicine and Public Health. Worked on qualitative research methods and activities aimed to reduce cervical cancer in justice-involved women and other vulnerable populations.

Took inbound calls for a website’s first line of technical support, managed and resolved customer complaints, and identified and escalated priority issues. Provided callers with product and service information, processed orders, and registered new callers.

Took inbound calls from Medicare beneficiaries on behalf of 1-800-MEDICARE. Assisted them in comparison and enrollment in health care and drug plans. Helped beneficiaries understand coverage and claims through critical thinking, active listening, and use of job aids and scripting. Helped beneficiaries navigate social agencies when they expressed difficulties beyond my scope of assistance.

Oversaw all aspects of keeping KPHA running smoothly, including correspondence over email and phone, maintaining the website, and creating content for both the website and social media. Created agendas for board meetings, assisted with the planning and execution of the annual KPHA Conference, and engaged membership in meaningful public health opportunities.

Worked to create and ensure a safe, accepting, loving, and fun environment for all participants. Created opportunities to learn about and engage in American cultural experiences as well as foster connections with and between participants. Helped participants meaningfully contribute to the KWLI community while encouraging growth and supporting their learning.

Coordinated all aspects of a 22 year old entirely student-run organization that, in the 2013-2014 year, put in over 10 thousand hours of service locally and nationally, a value of over $220,000.Was responsible for unifying the resources, strategies, goals, and practices of the five service programs: Weekend Breaks, Fall Breaks, Winter Breaks, Spring Breaks, and Summer Breaks. Oversaw the programs and program coordinators, administered evaluations of each program, functioned as official contact person to the University, coordinated AB Core meetings, training retreats, and staff development, coordinated the pending endowed scholarship fund at KU Endowment, solicited additional financial help from University offices, alumni, and community groups.

Secured funding for student groups, oversaw resolutions on University matters, sat on many boards to help best decide the future of University affiliates and programs.

Organized 14 sites at organizations or non-profits for volunteers to spend the week at, developed volunteer growth in a 8 week class designed to promote understanding of other world views and prepare volunteers to be agents of change.

Organized 40 sites at organizations or non-profits for volunteers to help at, incorporating over 300 student volunteers and the University of Kansas Honors Program.

Supporting the efforts of the Irish Osteoporosis Society through administrative work regarding the patient support helpline, press and advertising, literature and promotional materials, the website, the newsletter, public lectures, schools information DVDs and workbooks, awareness groups, the annual conference, and patient representation to government.

Learning about current public health initiatives and assisting with documenting the community health plan.

Directed communication within the office, assisted students to accessible materials.

Facilitated new Jayhawks with their personal, academic, and social transition to the University of Kansas.

Organized trips for student volunteers to visit nursing homes and assisted living communities to interact with the residents through games and shared stories.

Organized a district conference for all FBLA members in District VII to compete in a variety of events.
