Compensation/Operations/CruzPayI collaborate with campus clients, campus leadership and Staff Human Resources management to provide comprehensive compensation and payroll services, including compensation and classification analysis, implementation and maintenance of compensation programs and pay structures. I provide guidance to executives, directors, managers and employees regarding compensation issues involving the interpretation and application of compensation management policies and the overall compensation strategy. I serve as the manager for the Compensation professional staff and the Operations and CruzPay staff. I provide oversight and guidance to six (6) direct reports and twelve (12) indirect reports, handling compensation and classification actions, union represented employee wage implementations, campus equity program, job offer analysis, payroll and time and attendance for staff and non-academic student employees.PolicyI am responsible for reviewing and providing input on all Personnel Policies for Staff Members (PPSM) as they are updated by the Office of the President. With my people partners, I write, review and implement campus policies and processes. Due to recent unprecedented situations, the role has expanded to include other types of policies that are not limited to policy covered staff, but also include represented staff, students and faculty.

I managed five (5) Employee Relations Analysts, who worked in collaboration with campus managers to resolve issues related to policy interpretation, change management, employee performance and/or conduct, progressive discipline, organizational restructuring, and workplace investigations into potential university policy violations. I directly advised and counseled campus leadership, managers and employees across the campus on sensitive employment matters; such as, organizational design, layoff planning, performance management, progressive discipline, terminations, classification. I am adept at working with campus stakeholders to provide advice and counsel on formal and informal resolutions to complaints.

I served on systemwide negotiation teams and was responsible for the administration, implementation and training of staff and academic collective bargaining agreements. I resolved grievances and participated in labor management meetings. I worked closely with labor representatives to resolve issues informally. I drafted union notices and responded to union requests for information. I advised and counseled managers and employees across the campus on sensitive employment matters with a strong focus on complaints, investigations, performance management, progressive discipline, terminations, classification, hiring, compliance with state and federal laws, and leaves of absences.

I focused on recruitment, classification, leaves of absence facilitation, contract and policy implementation. I assisted units in managing their staffing needs, planned recruitment strategies to promote diversity and inclusion. I consulted with management regarding classification issues, assessed the impact of routine classification decisions. I planned and participated in campus compensation implementations. I advised clients on leaves of absences, and reasonable accommodations. policy and collective bargaining agreements.

I was responsible for gathering information for recruitments of staff and student employees, which included drafting job descriptions and working with Principal Investigators on funding information. I was responsible for payroll processing for students, academic and staff employees.

I was responsible for all areas of Human Resources for a small start up company. Including; recruiting, training, performance management, layoffs, payroll, organizational design, benefit negotiations and employee relations.

I sourced possible candidates from different recruiting sources, conducted informational interviews and encouraged qualified candidates to apply for open positions at Cisco.
