As a member of the Corporate Communications team, I play a critical role in enhancing the organizational brand of the Halton Regional Police Service within the Halton region and community of Halton. I am responsible for developing, implementing and monitoring communications material in support of the operational and administrative units Service-wide. This includes internal and external awareness campaigns, social media, presentations, key message and speech writing, media releases, and communications plans in support of strategic initiatives. I also act as a key support to the Service during incident and crises response, including deployment to scene to manage crises communications internally and externally.

As a member of the Mentorship committee, I work alongside my co-chair to facilitate lasting and impactful relationships between new/intermediate public relations professionals and seasoned professionals. CPRS Hamilton promotes ethical standards of professional practice and conduct among its members while developing public awareness of the value and function of the public relations profession. The Hamilton Chapter serves communications professionals in Hamilton, Halton, Niagara and Southwestern Ontario.

As a member of the Membership committee, I worked alongside my co-chairs to communicate the value of membership to communications professionals, recent graduates and students pursuing graduate certificates in Communications and Public Relations.

St. Catharines

As the Senior Communications Officer, I worked directly with the Director of Communications, Marketing and Community Engagement and with the President & CEO as well as the Foundation’s leadership team. The position was responsible for planning, organizing, and coordinating various projects aiming to enhance Niagara Health Foundation’s reputation and visibility among community audiences. This included managing Niagara Health Foundations’ public relations and media outreach with the goal of encouraging stronger awareness of and financial support for the Niagara Health Foundation brand. I also carried out organizational and campaign communications projects for a range of audiences, from strategy development, to the deployment of communication tools. I worked closely with the Special Events and Stewardship, and Development teams to provide strategic advice on communications and helped implement plans to support their communication goals. I also served as the Foundation President’s key advisor on communications issues including media relations, crisis management, as well as new trends in charitable sector public relations and Annual Giving.

St. Catharines

As the Communications Specialist, Organization & Campaign, I was responsible for managing the Foundation’s public profile, presence and reputation through a comprehensive marketing/communications strategy designed to maximize fundraising success.I also ensured that the Foundation’s marketing/communications plan were complimentary with the Niagara Health's PR plans to ensure a comprehensive and effective strategy for the Foundation Communications. I also assisted with the development and implementation of the Foundation’s Annual Giving programs- a series of broad-based appeals to various constituencies to create awareness of the Hospital’s funding needs and secure funds.During day-to-day operations I oversaw the production of all Foundation communications materials and marketing efforts, work closely with media partners, provide communications and design support and guidance to the Event and Development team and the Major Gifts team, produce multi-media content, and overseeing the Foundation's online presence. Niagara Region

I was responsible for maintaining and updating Boggio Family of Pharmacies'​ social media accounts, including four Facebook pages and one Twitter account. I was responsible for creating and publishing posts and campaigns that were featured either on an individual pharmacy's or all four pharmacies'​ social media platforms. My role at Boggio Family of Pharmacies extended beyond social media management. I was responsible for the design and creation of promotional/informational packages, advertisements, posters and coupons for the company. I also wrote all the company's news releases, media advisories, awards applications and promotional materials. Another large component of my work was directing, scripting, filming and editing promotional and instructional videos for the pharmacies and its clients.

Port Colborne, On

During a short term consulting contract, I developed the brand identity of Port Cares' new employment services program Youth Job Connection (YJC) and its connected programs Youth Job Connection Summer (YJCS) and Youth Job Link (YJL). Port Cares is a non-profit organization operating out of Port Colborne, ON, which provides leadership, support and resources to improve quality of life for its clients.In addition to brand identity, I focused largely on how to effectively communicate with the target demographic of each of these programs, which included youth between the ages of 15 and 29 with varying levels of barriers to employment. Communications channels were selected for based on their popularity with the target audience. As a result, I designed the online presence for the YJC program, through the creation of a website (www.portcaresyjc.ca) and social media accounts including Facebook, Twitter and Instagram. I also created supporting communications materials to be used internally and externally, including informational flyers, program charts and staff profiles for online use.

Thorold, On

A large focus of my internship was researching and developing content for Niagara Region's bi-annual internal magazine “Niagara Region Review” and for an Internal Communications audit. I also brought the department's Emergency Communications Plan and its appendices up to date and assisted in the review of the Regional Emergency Response Plan. Additionally, I assisted Communications Specialists and Coordinators on various projects, including employee survey analysis and client relations, and the production of news releases and other written products.I also assisted in the production of NRTV (Niagara Region TV) episodes where employees in various departments were profiled to increase employee and public knowledge of what Niagara Region employees do on a daily basis.

Conducted research for a faculty member while completing my Master's Degree. Research focused on health care professionals' perceptions of the Measles, Mumps and Rubella (MMR) vaccine between 1960 and 2000. Research was conducted using various academic journals in both English and French. This position required extensive time management and organizational skills, as well as analytical skills to process and then refine large quantities of information obtained from various sources.

Acted as a Teaching Assistant during the 2013-2014 academic year while completing my Master's Degree in History.
