I am a current thesis student in the Department of Biomedical Engineering and my research assistantship is supported through the Indiana University School of Medicine Department of Radiology and adviser Michael Veronesi M.D., Ph.D. For my thesis, I am working to develop site-specific, dual-drug polymer micellar nanoparticles with imaging capacity for intranasal drug delivery to treat glioblasotma.

During this research experience, I worked to update the second semester undergraduate organic chemistry multi-step synthesis under my adviser Eric Tippmann Ph.D. The goal was to lay the groundwork needed to replace the current lab with the synthesis of pyrimethamine otherwise known as Daraprim. By replacing this lab, students will not only obtain laboratory skills, but will also have the opportunity to understand more about the pharmaceutical industry.

I received funding to conduct a service-learning project by the Purdue Fort Wayne College of Arts and Sciences Recruitment and Retention Grant. I worked under my adviser Eric Tippmann Ph.D. and reached out to home-schooled students in the Fort Wayne community. I then held a lab for home-schoolers to have the opportunity to participate in chemistry lab. Along the way, I analyzed the pedagogical benefits and presented the poster "Evaluating the Benefits of a Chemistry Lab for Home-schooled Teenagers in a University Setting: A Pilot Study."

I characterized Varicella-Zoster encapsidation proteins for co-localization using immunofluorescence to test for co-localization. Here I learned valuable techniques such as PCR, wester blot, cell culture, and use of a fluorescence microscope. I received funding to conduct the research from the Purdue Fort Wayne Honors College under the Honors Research Endeavor Support Assistantship. I presented the poster "Tools to Characterize *In Situ Interactions of Varicella-Zoster Encapsidation Proteins."
