Control Room Operator
Current• Relieves off going shift panel technician after securing a comprehensive handover relating to activities for the previous 12 hours shift cycle.• Reads logs of previous shifts and daily instructions and takes actions where necessary.• Carries out consistent panel checks and regular alarm summary checks and takes anticipatory or corrective measures to avoid interruptions in production bearing in mind the safety of people, integrity of running equipment and other potential consequence• Ensures that optimal conditions are maintained at all times.• Verifies that all process line-ups are correct i.e. gas, condensate, flaring and draining system• Receives test results, records, initiates corrective action and reports any deviation at earliest possible time.• Verifies plant reading check sheets with field Operations Technicians • Records all relevant events during shift in handover log to ensure a comprehensive handover to incoming shift.• Communicates face to face or via radio with other Operations Technicians regarding operational moves/changes required on plant.• Communicates with 3rd parties as required, i.e other departments• Ensures moves/changes made by Operations Technicians deliver the desired result.• Acts as trainer/mentor for training panel technicians.• Interfaces with scheduling, technologist, mechanical, instrument, electrical, control and other staff in the daily activities concerning plant operations• Contributes actively to ensure good housekeeping is maintained on panel and in the control room, mess room and control building• Starts up or shuts down relevant units/plants as required (planned or emergencies).
