Sheldon Borkin, Ph.D., was Chief Scientist and VP Technology at Progress Software responsible for innovation and new product strategy across the company’s product lines including supporting M&A sourcing and due diligence. Sheldon led Progress' efforts in advanced analytics, big data, and cloud-based mobile development tools. He initiated, catalyzed, and led world-wide teams leading to Progress’:- High-productivity PaaS (Platform-as-a-Service) named "visionary" by Gartner- Cloud-based mobile application development platform- Innovative “Control Tower” for real-time business analytics, visibility, and response- Industry-leading business process platform named by IDC as “most innovative” - SOA management suite awarded “leader” ranking by ForresterThese products are used by Progress’ large base of ISVs and enterprise customers across multiple industries including: technology, finance, healthcare, manufacturing, and transportation.

Sheldon was VP at startup Cendura (acquired by CA) delivering leading-edge systems management products to major players in financial, healthcare, and Internet industries.

At WebMD (from startup through IPO to $1B/yr revenue) Sheldon held senior management positions in application development, technology strategy, and strategic partner management. He led the clinical applications group and was chief architect for CMS's Medicare Advantage platform. He was Chief Security Officer (CISSP & GSEC certified) responsible for all aspects of WebMD’s HIPAA compliance and later a security consultant to the CMS Office of HIPAA Privacy and Security. He also led creation of the successful M&A-driven $1B growth plan for the $600M Emdeon division (now Change Healthcare / Optum).

Led product development for pioneering consumer interactive streaming television (Time Warner, NTT) and consumer game (Nintendo 64) platforms.

Led the design and development of highly-acclaimed AI-based database design products from startup through IPO. The core product still exists as Oracle's SQL Developer Data Modeler (supporting Bachman Diagrams as well as process models).
