Compositing Lead
Lighting Supervisor - Sesame Mecha Builders
- 52 x 11minute episodes- developing new Aces HDR work-from-home workflows- establishing a more realistic all-in beauty render LRC approach- composite keyshot treatments in Nuke
Director, Cg Supervisor - Magic The Gathering Bid
- this test/bid was for the new feature-level tv series in development- developed xgen groom character workflows new to Guru- integrated Quixel mega scan assets as well as Kitbash 3D packages into our asset pipeline to explore potential budget opportunities on the full series- I personally handled all environment building, set-dressing, lighting and compositing as well as directing animation and FX teams to assemble our short film test
Cg Development Supervisor - Bids
- Look-developing future project pitches to help create new or strengthen production studio relationships. - The first of these tests I did that can be announced is Sesame Street's new full series spin-off which will air on HBO Max.- My role focused on lighting, rendering, compositing from concept art to final but it also involved generalist CG work, building assets, finaling, camera animation/shot creation and layout.- I also migrated Paw Patrol's pipeline from Vray to Redshift to bring them up to date with our other shows- I introduced Cryptomatte rendering and crypto Nuke tools to Guru
Lighting Supervisor - True And The Rainbow Kingdom
- Updated and redesigned our Redshift for Maya Lighting pipeline for the new Season 3 and 4. including tools and artist workflows- Optimized Deadline GPU render farm settings for better results and reduced render overhead from previous seasons - setup a Shotgun script-driven tagging system of production-wide and custom render global settings in order to fine tune our rendering for best results - I composited most keyshots in Nuke to help get the comp team started on propagation
Compositing Supervisor - Space Between Stars Film
- I was half of our 2-person comp team on this short film, crafting every shot uniquely to match artistic goals using nuke 3d projection mapping, authoring a new 2D hybrid basecomp at Guru to transform 3D rendered assets to look as close as possible to 2D painted designs- built NukeX particle systems and Maya 3D assets for achieving the different explosions, alien trails, shattering lazer beams, lighting effects (it was a lot of fun to use multiple disciplines to recreate the colorkey paintings' brushstrokes but give them life and energy)Our 12-person production team created an eery sci-fi story blending 3D and 2D elements into a stylized award winning film "Space Between Stars", currently in the film festival circuit showcased in over 50 screenings around the world. Director Of Photography, Compositing Supervisor: The Breadwinner (2017)
- Award winning (Oscar & Golden Globe nominated) https://www.imdb.com/title/tt3901826/awards/- Developed and supervised Lighting, Compositing, VFX, and Rendering on Guru Studio's first Feature Film Project in Partnership with Cartoon Saloon.- Designed and Built a 2-stage Nuke compositing workflow to process large PSD backgrounds and our Anime Studio Pro character animation footage. The first stage would involve compositors laying out camera work, timing of animated lighting effects and parallax depth of the paintings projection-mapped on geometry. This stage helped trim down Nuke reads and memory for the second stage. We'd render unique layers through the camera to multichannel exrs then assembled them in the second stage where all faked lighting effects and coloring were applied. The separation of these 2 stages not only made the paper world look feasible in Nuke but also sped up our fixes and ability to refine the look.
Compositing Supervisor: Ever After High
Supervised Compositing of the 4th Season including 2x 88min 4-part features and 8 mini webisodes. We designed a dynamic build script for Nuke to reference keyshot files then create and organize node graph for artists to start with based on which characters and locations were being used. This minimized repeating work and left time for shot-specific work.
Lead Compositor: Shimmer And Shine
I developed a Nuke pipeline, integrating Harmony render layers and built tools to calculate tracked drop shadows and reflections and handled day-to-day team pipeline issues while working on a full quota.
Lead Compositor: Dinopaws
During Dinopaws production I rebuilt the nuke basecomp to link Vray lighting outputs better to our procedural pipe while solving edge problems, multi-layer integration issues, ease-of-use artist issues, and adding wish-list functionality while keeping the outside of our tools familiar to our established team. I Created tools to help artists achieve and propagate art approved looks faster such as Zdepth focus, atmospheric haze, world.p 3D space vignettes while also working on quota.
Compositing Supervisor - In Shadow
https://www.inshadow.net/- composited and animated roughly 200 PSD files (170 shots) in my spare time while Supervising Compositing on the Breadwinner - i used custom tools to refine this illustrative unique treatment and camera work done in Nuke's 3D environment which integrated particle effects, 2D and 3D projection-mapped animation as well as a new DOF and motion blur approach for hybrid. I learned a LOT experimenting with different ideas that drove many techniques used in The Breadwinner feature film's "Story Paper World"- This was free, a personal endeavor in collaboration with Director/Writer/Editor/Illustrator Lubomir Arsov. Music by Starward ProjectionsThe Entire Film can be viewed here:
Lighter, Compositor - The Nut Job
- lighting in Maya with renderman's 3Delight and Stereo Compositing in Nuke for a 3D theatrical release.- This was a great opportunity to learn the 3D animated feature film production and pipeline tools and advance my skills to produce higher quality work
Character Modeler - Sherazad The Untold Stories
Character/Creature modelling in Zbrush/Mudbox/Maya. I did about 30 biped, quadruped, ghost, and monster meshes for early development of this new major series project before March Entertainment closed down.
Vfx Artist, Compositor: Dex Hamilton
Maya nParticles, ncloth, shader effects, NukeX particles, DMM shatter plugin. I had a lot of fun building out particle bug swarms, fuzzy logic crowd systems, fluid explosions with hard body debris, smoke trails, electrical dog-fight explosions and more.
