My career has been focused on projects โ from inception, through planning, design, and execution, to commissioning. I have been involved in all aspects of capital and operational projects including consulting forensically on lookbacks, failure analysis, and real-time program correction. In that time, I have learned how important a companyโs capital program is to their viability and long-term growth. Their focus, however, is often too late in the process to make a difference to the project success or failure.Decisions that affect a companyโs long-term success are driven by their vision and roadmap to obtain it. Using this the characteristics of a project can be properly defined and communicated for the best decisions to be made. It is not enough to identify what project needs to be done โ the why of every aspect of that project needs to be considered to safely steer it to completion. this problem is not limited to any industry or area and can only be addressed by the owner of a project before it ever goes to a design or turnkey firm for execution. Not knowing the why of a project leads to miscommunication, rework, and costly overruns. I have spent my career developing the tools to make owners better customers, which makes their projects more successful. I can research and offer innovative opportunities for market exploitation. Working with the stakeholders and managers before a project gets started, I can compile, analyze, and prioritize the whys into an effective vision and communicate / translate this vision into the language of project management. Leveraging my talents and experience in large corporations, I can help identify and prioritize plans for a companyโs capital program, develop metrics, management processes, and staffing plans to execute those plans, and hire, mentor, and develop a team for long term success. Finally, I can lead, oversee, and correct these teams to create an atmosphere of competence, professionalism, and innovation for future endeavors. Most importantly, I can streamline this to create a large corporation management system that can function in a small agile environment. For investors and outside analysts, I understand that finance and operations are different from capital investment. I can investigate and make sure you are asking the right questions, offer suggestions to improve the success of ventures, or point out weaknesses that could jeopardize your returns. If you are interested in learning more about how I can help your organization, message me or contact me at sheldon.m.waters@gmail.com.
