Shelley has served as a strategic business advisor and audit partner for multi-national public companies for almost 30 years. Her insights and expertise in the areas of risk management, internal controls and strategy has assisted executive teams in achieving growth plans, embracing innovation and increasing stakeholder value.With a focus on good governance, Shelley has more than 25 years of board experience serving on not-for-profit, association, and for-profit corporate boards. Shelley has been a champion for inclusion and diversity throughout her career and understanding how strategy, different points of view and collaboration can overcome complexity.Shelley served on the Board of the Canadian Institute of Chartered Accountants for 10 years including two years as Vice Chair and two years as Chair. She played a pivotal role in the unification in the accounting profession in Canada and the creation of the new national body, Chartered Professional Accountants of Canada (CPA Canada). Shelley was part of the team that brought together the governing organizations for all accountants in Canada, more than 40 separate governing bodies, and was CPA Canada’s first Chair. Her practical approach, strong interpersonal skills and straightforward style helped to transform the accounting landscape nationally and create a new, unique and successful culture from a range of diverse member interests.As a Partner at Deloitte, Shelley has served on the Board of Directors of Deloitte Canada for 12 years, having been elected by her Partners for three consecutive terms. She chaired the compensation committee and the governance committee and was also a member of the CEO nominating committee. As a board member, she has been a champion for gender diversity and inclusion. Shelley has received numerous awards including four years on the list of Canada’s Top 100 Most Powerful Women earning her a position on the Women’s Executive Network Hall of Fame.
