Research Coordinator
CurrentMy primary responsibility is managing and coordinating research grants within the Department of Infectious Diseases, the University of Melbourne (at the Peter Doherty Institute for Infection and Immunity). My role also incorporates a research coordinator element within the Doherty Institute, acting as a liaison and point-of-contact for a variety of research support functions and reporting responsibilities for the institute.Key accountabilities include:• Identifying and communicating funding opportunities and resources available via the University to assist researchers with their funding applications, providing advice and resources.• Assisting with training of junior or new academic research staff and students.• Coordinating the submission of large/complex collaborative research proposals to national and international funding opportunities (i.e. NHMRC, MRFF, NIH).• Producing Doherty Institute research and publication reports for internal and external stakeholders.• Working closely with University of Melbourne central, faculty and school divisions as well as the Doherty Institute to align strategic and operational processes. • Engaging with key external stakeholders including medical research institute networks, researchers at collaborative institutions, funding bodies and philanthropic trusts and foundations.
