I graduated in 2011 from Winthrop University with a Bachelor of Art in Art certified K-12. Since then I have spent the last 11 years in the public school system ranging from grades 7th- 12th. I have taught courses in Sculpture, Ceramics, Photography, and General Studio. I am passionate about art and think that art making is important because it helps teach you to be creative and allows you to try and discover new things about the media and yourself. It is a way to connect to history, different cultures, and the world beyond. To experience a point of view that you have never thought of before and see it from someone else's eyes.In addition to teaching, I have served in other roles that have enhanced my knowledge beyond the classroom. I was a Lead Student Council Advisor for over four years. In this position I was in charge of school wide events including Prom, Homecoming, Pep Rallies, Senior Day, and other smaller events throughout the school year. I planned, coordinated, and executed annual events for several 100s of attendees, my duties included vendor management, marketing promotions, and event itineraries.I have also been involved in several educational cohorts. I was one of the few teachers chosen to design effective training resources to enhance performance in technology and literacy in the classroom.
