I have been working in leadership and other directorial roles in the UK charity sector for more than twenty five years. Since 2007 I have specialised in fundraising - specifically legacies, major donors, corporates and trust and foundations. In January 2023 I joined Allia, a remarkable charity that has been promoting social enterprise and charity finance for 20 years. It also develops community work spaces and future homes that help homeless people to start a new life off the streets. It sounds a lot, and it is, but Allia has even greater ambitions and my role, as Head of Funding, is to identify income streams to support Allia Ventures to offer its social enterprise support to even more people with fabulous ideas for changing the world for the better. I'm proud and happy to say that in my first year as Head of Funding, Allia raised £2m+. Until 2022, I worked for Lucy Cavendish College, Cambridge as part of the Development Team. My focus is on grants from Trusts and Foundation, but also work on Major Donor proposals. The College is spearheading the University's drive to greater inclusion and diversity and it is an enormously exciting time to be part of such a unique, dynamic and future oriented institution. Until 2019, I worked for International Cat Care which is a world leading feline charity that works to create a world where all cats, owned and unowned are treated with respect and compassion. We achieve this through education, advice and training. Our websites - www.icatcare.org and our vet division www.isfm.org together contain some of the most trusted and well researched information available on feline health, behaviour, safety and welfare. Currently working with legacy makers. Specialties: Charity fundraising, legacies, networking, mentoring, strategic development, staff management and team development. I am also Vice Chair of the Centre for Global Equality in Cambridge which seeks to harness the innovations emerging from the University and local companies for the benefit of people in developing countries. I am a Trustee of Cam Sight - the local charity for visually impaired and blind people in Cambridge and also a Trustee of Cambridge Aid which provides small grants to help people who find themselves at their lowest ebb financially. I regularly mentor groups of MBAs at the Judge Business School in Cambridge and support small charities with fundraising advice.
