My field of expertise lies in delivering solutions based on sound environmental planning. I am a strong advocate of the ability of the land use planning system to deliver innovative development outcomes and liveable communities which respond to environmental and climatic conditions.In order to facilitate the collaborative delivery of outcomes, we have established Urbaqua, a not-for-profit organisation that works to support and deliver water and environmentally sensitive outcomes in WA. Urbaqua also provides consultancy services in environmental planning, natural resource management, urban water management, coastal adaptation planning and policy development.My passion for urban water management started a number of years ago, when I was the lead consultant in the development of Better Urban Water Management - the framework to integrate land and water planning via the development approvals process, which was published by the Western Australian Planning Commission. I continue to work in this area, partnering with key agencies including the Cooperative Research Centre for Water Sensitive Cities to improve the implementation of Better Urban Water Management. I am the Program Manager of New WAter Ways, the WA capacity building program which aims to enhance the delivery of water sensitive cities. Urbaqua undertakes all activities to deliver the New WAter Ways work program, providing support for WSUD champions and showcasing new and innovative practices. I am an experienced facilitator and enjoy bringing stakeholders together to co-create beneficial outcomes. I have built up a significant network of State and Local Government and Industry contacts in the environmental planning, urban development and natural resource management sectors. I have a significant degree of knowledge relating to the land use planning and environmental assessment processes and am an accredited Bushfire Planning and Design Practitioner.
