I have designed a 70-page "Aviation Readiness" English tutoring program for student pilots requiring additional English language practice at our facility. Although most international aviation students arrive holding a university degree, or have completed an aviation technical college in their home nation, a comprehensive review of Aviation English Terminology and Phraseology is normally necessary so they can begin their aeronautical studies immediately.This 4-part curriculum has been specifically developed by me, in close collaboration with Certified Flight Instructors, to function alongside "Private Pilot Ground School." We review ICAO Aviation Terminology and Phraseology; practice Radio Communication using guided scripts; discuss the information within the FAR / AIM (Federal Aviation Regulations / Aeronautical Information Manual) such as "Special Use and Other Airspace Areas", "Weather"; "Medical Facts for Pilots", etc.; review "Real English" through conversation and analyzing texts; and train for accent neutralization.Among the airlines and aviation schools who have entrusted their cadets to me are: Spring Air, CAFUC (Civil Aviation Flight University of China); Sichuan Airlines, China Express, Donghai Airlines, Juneyao Airlines, Okay Airways, and Korean Airlines.Of high value to the Flight Instructors are my student evaluations (using the ICAO Language Proficiency Requirements) which point out which students are ready for cockpit instruction. My goal is to graduate competent, communicative cadets who are "Cleared For Takeoff."
