I lead internal and external communications and advocacy for the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation in India. The Foundation's work in India spans across global health and global development. Our key focus areas are vaccine delivery, maternal new born child health and family planning.I help manage our key media, Government and and policy relations.

• Communications: responsible for the BBCWST advocacy work and fund raising in Nepal, lead work with media, government, and public relations in Nepal.• Management: I oversee a weekly Radio and TV news and current affairs programme. I manage budgets worth thousands of dollars and play a key part in writing concept notes and bidding for grants in the international and local donor community.• I help guide our partners and oversee the training of our community journalists and ensure they have the editorial and technical skills to report on the constitutional building process and governance in Nepal.• Key outcomes: I have launched a weekly E Newsletter for our donor partners and the country’s NGO and media community.

• Management: I ran the BBC’s news operation in Pakistan; covering one of the biggest foreign stories at the time. My responsibilities included overseeing all the editorial, safety and financial issues involved in running the bureau and deploying teams to cover stories across the country often in hostile areas. • Government Relations: I negotiated with governments and other agencies in Pakistan and Afghanistan for the BBC. I initiated and maintained high level contacts with governments and companies in the region, including frequent ministerial meetings in Islamabad, Kabul and beyond.

• I helped manage the foreign intake desk and the daily coverage demands each network requires (across BBC TV/Radio and Online).• I was deployed from London as a Senior Foreign Producer to manage stories abroad. My main area of expertise is South Asia.• Assessed security and technical needs, making sure colleagues were properly prepared for the coverage and breaking new events.• Managed the budgets for the deployments

I was part of a team responsible for the news coverage of half the world's population. I have run major news operations in Afghanistan, India and Pakistan. I also enjoyed a successful stint as the Acting South Asia Bureau Chief.
