Shelley Yates is a native Floridian who now finds herself living in Jackson, Mississippi. A life-long marketing and advertising enthusiast, Shelley began her passion for her career at the age of six (6) when she entered her first advertising contest from Gulf Power Company – and winning first place. She was hooked.Shelley’s father, the late Cooper Yates, was an advertising executive in Pensacola, Florida and founded Hemmer & Yates – a large agency that serviced the Gulf Coast in the 1970’s and 80’s. Cooper encouraged his daughter to apprentice in every department of his agency, and she did. Shelley began by arranging pencils at the age of five (5) and worked up to pitching and securing RFP’s from national accounts.Shelley worked in marketing and advertising for her father until 1994, taking break from the Gulf Coast after college to marry, have children and become a full-time sheep farmer in Cranberry, Pennsylvania. She remained in Pennsylvania until her father passed away in 2004. Shelley then moved back to Pensacola to handle her father’s affairs and clients at his agency, Great Southern Advertising.Shelley began working once again in the marketing field, eventually working full-time for The Great Southern Restaurant Group (GSRG) in 2006.While in Pensacola Shelley achieved much success and publicity for her beloved hometown. Shelley was especially proud to be the liaison between the Pensacola seafood industry and the public following the Deepwater Horizon disaster, and made many appearances in national media.In 2014, Shelley met and fell in love with Eric Stracener, an attorney from Jackson, Mississippi. In 2015 they married, combined their families, and settled in Madison, Mississippi where they are raising their children and living happily ever after.
