About Michelle (Shelly) Vernick

I am a strategic HR leader with over 20 years of experience in education, social impact, and the technology sector. I began my career teaching elementary school students in San Leandro Public schools, then transitioned to working in Human Resources within the education nonprofit sector. After nearly a decade, I joined a startup in the technology sector, supporting teams to thrive in a fast-paced, high-growth global environment. My greatest joy professionally is helping others grow and reach their full potential, whether that be executives I support as a People Business Partner, or members of my own team. I also love mentoring and coaching others in the field, and have been leading teams for 14 years. Outside of work, I can be found hiking in the Marin Headlands, volunteering as a Board Member of First Graduate, dabbling with a new recipe in the kitchen, or planning my next trip to Italy. My specialties include: Employee Engagement, Manager and Leadership Coaching, Learning and Development, Performance Management, Talent Management, Diversity, Inclusion and Belonging (with a focus on mitigating bias in People Programs and Processes), Employee Relations, Compensation, HR Business Partnership, Project Management, Internal Communications and Data Analytics
